Purpose Statement:
The Winegrowers Association is a nonprofit
regional organization (501 (C) (6) dedicated to promoting the
making and growing of quality wine & winegrapes in the
Temecula Appellation. Our members produce some of the finest
wines and winegrapes in the world.
Viticultural Area: The
ATF established the "Temecula" viticultural area in the
Federal Register on October 23, 1984. The TTB renamed the same
viticultural area "Temecula Valley" effective June 18, 2004.
The Federal Register lists the official acreage for the
Temecula Valley AVA at 33,000 acres. Approximately 1,300
acres are currently planted in commercial vineyards.
Within the appellation there are 5,000 acres located in
a "protected" area referred to as the Citrus/Vineyard
Zone. This area is generally located in and around the
Rancho California Road area within the County of Riverside.
County guidelines strictly enforce number of acres needed to
build a winery, lodging and other limited housing and
commercial ventures.
Promotional Materials: From time to
time the Winegrowers Association adds photos and videos to its
promotional library. If you are a photographer or videographer
who would like your wine country shots featured on our Web
site or in one of our many promotional outreach materials,
please contact the executive director by email.
Wine Society:
The 10 program meetings
a year consist of dinners at wineries and restaurants, bus tours to other
wine areas, evening tastings featuring single or multiple wine varietals. Wine Society members volunteer support
for TVWA events.
